Sobercurious? Why You Should Quit Booze
Your time and energy are finite resources. How much of them are you wasting?
Common resource-wasting activities include scrolling and booze. Think about the past week, how much did you drink?
You have a glass of wine to relax in the evening, but in actual fact, you are putting your body to work. Now your liver has to process the alcohol, and your brain has to work overtime to perform tasks because the alcohol interferes with communication pathways.
A scientific study found that even moderate drinking (5 glasses of wine a week) leads to shrinkage in your brain. Specifically hippocampal atrophy, which is an early characteristic of Alzheimer’s, and affects memory and cognition.
Because alcohol dehydrates you, it can make your skin dull and speed up wrinkles.
Alcohol may help you fall asleep, but overall it disrupts your sleep , impacting your performance the next day.
Before you pour yourself a drink, ask yourself if it's worth it. Consider the potential adverse effects it might have on your body and if it's worth wasting your limited resources on. Instead, try engaging in activities that add value to your life and make you happy.
